Where To Eat And Hang in Bali Part 1

On

Bali has been my second home for the past six years. It's arguably the most beautiful place in the world. It's the place where I escape myself from the hectic city life. It's a place of spiritual, culture and nature.

This time, I'll write some of the restaurants/cafes/bars that I've been to since Bali is the also the perfect place to embark on a culinary experience. I'll make them into parts so you don't overwhelm reading my writings and here's the first part.

Mamasan Restaurant

JL. RAYA KEROBOKAN NO. 135, BR. TAMAN, BALI., KUTA UTARA, BALI 80361, INDONESIA

My number one favourite restaurant in Bali! I even celebrated my last birthday here. I just love everything about this place. The food, the service, the decor. Its bar is also a nice spot to spend a nice decent night in Bali. Mamasan is perfect for brunch and diner. However if you're planning to find a table for dinner, reservation is a must. They have a solid wine selection and best desert. You might want to try their braised wagyu beef cheek. It's Perfect. Btw, it's a trendy restaurant, you might want to dress up a little. Cheers.

MÉTIS Restaurant, Lounge & Gallery

JL. PETITENGET NO. 6, KEROBOKAN KELOD, KUTA, KABUPATEN BADUNG, BALI 80361, INDONESIA

One of the best Bali's fine dining restaurants. Everything about this place is wonderful. Good staff, standout French Mediterranean dish, nice bar and elegant, sophisticated European al fresco restaurant atmosphere. It has a spectacular view overlooking the paddy fields and magnificent lotus garden.

I love, really, really love the escargot! Delicious starter. You might also want to try their pan seared hot foie gras (esp if you're a fan of French delicacy). They serve exotic starters from oyster, caviar, up to sashimi, antipasto and salad. As for the mains, I'd suggest you to try the crispy skin pork belly or the roasted quail or la cote de Boeuf and Chateaubriand sauce. And my dessert goes to "Le Moelleux", melted caraibe chocolate cake with roasted nuts and vanilla ice cream, the "Sweet Temptation" (a sampler including Millefeuille, Crème Brûlée, Dulce de Leche Chocolate Delight, Orange Opéra, Pink Grapefruit Sorbet), and the Sencha Green Tea Soufflé.

You can actually try their lunch menu for convenient price, Rp 90k ++. You won't regret it!

Sardine Restaurant

JALAN PETITENGET NO. 21, KEROBOKAN, KUTA, BALI 80361, INDONESIA

Located just down the road from Métis restaurant, Sardine is also a charming, fantastic restaurant. As Métis, Sardine is also has a view overlooking the paddy field. The traditional, eco-friendly architecture of bamboo beams turns this place stylish and blends perfectly with its surroundings. Sardine is a seafood-dominant restaurant where seafood lovers will relish in it. One thing that comes to my surprise is they don't serve dessert! However, the arak cocktail is surprisingly delicious!

Sarong

JL. PETITENGET NO. 19X, KEROBOKAN, KUTA UTARA, KABUPATEN BADUNG, BALI 80361, INDONESIA

Sarong is one of the most sought after Asian (mainly Thai) cuisine dining establishment on the Island. The chef has produced impressively stunning dishes. It's advisable to advance book.

Sarong is your place to taste great cocktails and wine. And stellar dining experience. Try their crispy pork belly with Sichuan chilli salt tamarillo and tamarind sauce or Tuna betel leaf with lemongrass green tomato sambal matah and bomb pasha for entrée. To dine here is, for me, an exceptional culinary experience. It's unique. It's beyond words.

The extraordinary is the Pahari snapper. The texture, the flavour is so intense and outstanding. Also the Panang Pork Curry. I really can't mention and describe my favourite in Sarong one by one because it's impossible. All you need to do is make a reservation and prepare yourself to enter the food wonderland!

Biku

JALAN PETITENGET NO.888, KUTA UTARA, KABUPATEN BADUNG, BALI 80361, INDONESIA

The all in one restaurant, tea lounge, bookshop and antique shop. Biku is located in Oberoi Street right across the Potato Head Beach Club. This place is my must visit restaurant every time I go to Bali. Its bohemian atmosphere is wonderful. I personally go there for nasi campur and carrot cake. They're so good. If you're a tea person, then this is also a perfect place for you. They serve high tea for 75k per person which comes with scones, mini quiches, cookies and finger sandwiches. This place is always busy, if not always full, so better if you make an advance booking..
