My time in the Togean Islands was short. I unfortunately only spent 3 nights there. I had timed the overnight ferries wrong (they only depart Gorontalo twice a week) and I had mistakenly already booked a flight out.
Regardless of the timing however, the Togean Islands taught me so much about Indonesia and it's people and inhabitants.
It was in my homestay that I first began to learn Bahasa Indonesia - a language that I am now comfortable speaking out loud. The need to learn Bahasa was almost essential in my mind, as I was staying with a family with only one English speaker.
I was able to swim with the stingless jellyfish in one of two known lakes in the world to have these mystical little creatures. My GoPro was stolen at the airport on my way to to Sulawesi however I was able to capture some images on a waterproof disposable camera.
